Born in a small village
in Udupi to a modest and traditional Brahmin couple, Late
Sri Aroor Srinivasa Hebbar, a celebrated teacher of The Sanskrit
College, Udupi and Late Smt Padmavati Amma, Sri A.V. Hebbar
always cherished a desire to write devotional songs and do
his bit in spreading the rich culture of Hindu philosophy.
Challenged
with early difficulties in life by way of financial
difficulties and being the only son to his parents,
he has come up the hard way in life. The opportunities
associated with being an official in a leading bank,
the Syndicate Bank, didn’t lure him to the easy
city life. The home soil always beckoned him and he
set up a farm in the village Aroor, where he stays till
date along with wife Smt. Kusuma Hebbar.
After stabilising the family’s
financial conditions, he took early retirement from the
bank to pursue his personal desires full time. Thus started
the series of songs he has written on various Gods and Goddesses.
The Suprabhatha written by him is played early morning in
the local Vishnumoorthy Temple every day.
He is blessed with three sons. The eldest
Sri Kiran Hebbar is a Paediatrician and Associate Professor
in Kasturba Medical College, Manipal. The second son Sri
Shivacharan Hebbar runs Pharmaceutical distributions in
Udupi and the third son Sri Manmohan Hebbar runs a Internet
Marketing company 01webmarketing.com in Bangalore.
Not for Profit Initiative
– Sri A.V. Hebbar was averse to the idea of commercialising
the songs produced by him. The lengthy bills of recording
studios, production costs and logistics are entirely borne
by him. He feels if his modest initiative makes a difference
to someone and does good for our rich heritage, he is more
than compensated.
